I will admit that I’ve been quite slow to jump on the whole “Social Networking” bandwagon. I’m not what you might call an overly social person anyway, so the idea of everyone knowing my every move, every trite thought, and every nitty-gritty detail does not sound very appealing to me. I’m also not interested in everyone else’s details either. I do have a facebook page (that never gets checked), never had a personal myspace page, and haven’t until recently had a personal Youtube account (still I only have 3 public videos & the rest are unlisted). I enjoy playing solo without the intrusion of prying eyes.

So, needless to say, I was not too apt to joining up with Twitter. UNTIL…

I heard that Cellular South was coming out with a brand new Android phone (back 2 years ago) and that the announcement would come via Twitter. I thought the fact that C.S. was posting news and announcements was a very interesting concept. I started looking around at some of my favorite brands (Adobe, NASA, random bands, etc.) and noticed that the things that they were “tweeting” about was not, “Hey@everyone. I’m brushing my #teeth in my #bathroom.”, but they were sharing information that was relevant to me and my interests. I was hooked!! I’m now following 51 people, and have had 81 tweets (since 2009 and most are retweets) and watch for interesting announcements, tutorials, news, and other things that I probably would know about if I didn’t use Twitter.

  1. Twitter could also be an instructional tool…That is what I know from our class. I think maybe all of us would use Twitter, but just for fun; spreading status at anytime anywhere.
By subscribing, I could have useful information, learning, studying, and even researching through Twitter~
    That is so cool!

  2. In my opinion, Twitter is a great tool for businesses. It can be used for marketing and branding purpose. I was skeptical to use Twitter in class for a while since I was not so successful at first. However, through this assignment I have changed my mind. I am now in the opposite side.

  3. I am slowly coming around to being a fan of Twitter. What sold me on it was downloading the app to my Facebook. I love how I can Tweet and it also shows up in my newsfeed on Facebook. I also showed this to my computer concepts students and I am noticing more of them using Twitter too.
